"Many want our movement to fail"says Sheinbaum in Tabasco

He did not mention the violence that hit the federative entity, the cradle of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He did not refer to the arrest of Bermúdez, the former Secretary of Security of Tabasco accused of being the leader of “La Barredora”. Nor did he talk about the accusations that relate the political campaign of Adam Augusto López, former governor of Tabasco and current Senator of Morena, with alleged negotiations with the narco.

But the president said that, despite everything, her party will not be defeated.

“There are many and many who, through many ways, want our movement to fail; but it will never fail, because it is in the heart of the people of Mexico,” he said.

Later, in another event in Campeche, the federal president said that criticism of her government comes from an entrepreneur who does not want to pay taxes, referring to Ricardo Salinas Pliego, and a few opposition politicians.

“Our political adversaries, those who do not want the transformation, an entrepreneur who does not want to pay taxes and a few of other political parties who do not want to lose privileges, who still want to return for their privileges, criticize us, slander us, say lots of things every day, invent. And what do they think? Nothing happens, the people continue to believe in the fourth transformation,” he said.

Sheinbaum presumed the results she has obtained in her first year of government and that come from the previous six -year term.

He said that poverty decreased 22% in Tabasco thanks to the delivery of social programs and the increase to the minimum wage.

He stressed that more than 739,500 inhabitants are beneficiaries of monetary transfers, in which the federal government invests 21,261 million pesos a year.

He announced that 60,000 houses in Tabasco will be built through the Housing Program.

This week he was expelled from Paraguay, Hernán Bermúdez, pointed out to lead “La Barredora”, a criminal group related to the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel.

The former Fasco official was close to Augusto López and now faces charges for the probable crimes of arms trafficking, kidnapping, extortion and theft of fuels.

A protected witness stated that, in addition, Bermúdez negotiated with drug trafficking leaders to avoid riots in the election campaign of Augusto López of 2018. When he won the governorship, Morena’s politician appointed Bermúdez director of the Investigation Police and, subsequently, Secretary of Security.

Sheinbaum declared this Friday that the Attorney General’s Office must determine whether these accusations are certain, but so far dismisses them.

“The Prosecutor’s Office has to do its investigations. If the Prosecutor’s Office tells us or establishes that there is any position against the senator, the situation is different. So far there is nothing that the Prosecutor’s Office has said,” he said at his Mañanera Conference.

While the investigation advances, the case, added to others of corruption in the Secretariat of the Navy and Pemex, affects the reputation of Morena.
