The National Board of Justice (JNJ) suspended tonight Delia Espinoza as prosecutor of the nation. Hours before the hearing was held in which the Holder of the Public Ministry had to formulate its discharges, but did not attend.
In an official letter of the JNJ, signed by its owner Gino Ríos, he realizes the supreme prosecutors of the decision of the Plenary of that institution by which “the precautionary measure of provisional suspension to Delia Milagros Espinoza Valenzuela in her status as a supreme prosecutor and prosecutor of the Nation” is applied.
Espinoza was chosen as the head of the Public Ministry by the Board of Supreme Prosecutors on October 18, 2024, replacing Juan Carlos Villena and swore almost a month later, on November 8 of that same year, as head of the Public Ministry for the 2024–2027 period, with the possibility of re -election for two more years.
During his management he assumed sensitive investigations, including cases against the president of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, and constitutional complaints against her predecessor Patricia Benavides, in addition to several more against parliamentarians from different political stores.
Hours before knowing the decision of the JNJ, the plenary of that institution carried out a brief diligence to listen to Espinoza’s discharges. Six of the seven magistrates were present. The only absent was Francisco Távara, who according to sources of this newspaper was excluded from the processes involved to the head of the Public Ministry.
He realized that Espinoza, who was opened a disciplinary process for not complying with the restitution of Supreme Prosecutor Patricia Benavides, was notified in his homes declared in La Molina and Miraflores, but that despite this he was not present.
After that, the president of the JNJ, Gino Ríos Patio, said they will vote the separation of Espinoza Valenzuela raised by the speaker María Teresa Cabrera. He did not point out the decision will be known today.
The Prosecutor of the Nation did not attend the headquarters of the JNJ and instead summoned a press conference in the Prosecutor’s Office to claim that he wants to dismiss illegally.
