The captain of the Revolutionary National Police (PNR) Leonel Mesa Rodríguez, 62, was found dead on Friday morning in the Popular Council La Reforma, municipality of Caibarién, Villa Clara.
According to the Preliminary informationpublished in a note of the Home Office (Minint), The sector manager had six white weapon wounds and a shot in the head.
His motorcycle, assigned for work, was found next to the body. Mesa moved in uniform between Remedios and Caibarién at the time of crime.
The authorities of the Ministry of Interior investigate the case and have begun to deepen the first information to clarify the facts.
The officer, with almost 24 years of service in the PNR, was “in the first line of fight against crime,” according to the official note.
The minint expressed their condolences to relatives and colleagues of the head of sector.
He also stressed that violent acts of this type will receive “the overwhelming response of the laws” and the repudiation of Cuban society, which – it affirms – will not tolerate impunity or stimuli to violence.
