The vowel of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), Francisco Vargas, questioned this Friday that a bill has been submitted to suspend electoral vowels, just one month from the ballot in Bolivia.
“We reject it totally and flatly, it is an attack on the separation and independence of powers, it seeks to hit the institutionality of the electoral body, ”said Vargas in an interview with The radio duty.
On September 17, the Senator of the Socialism Movement (MAS), Pedro Benjamín Vargas, presented a bill to suspend the functions of the TSE vowels (holders and alternates) and extend the constitutional mandate of the government of Luis Arce.
“We think there are no more guarantees or confidence in this electoral body so that you can carry out the elections or the second round,” said the projectist legislator.
The next day, the president Luis Arce said that his government opposes “absolutely this bill” And that is not part of that controversy “initiative or any other that seeks to alter the democratic and constitutional order, interrupt the electoral calendar and question the work of the TSE.”
He urged the national assembly members to, at the time that this project is discussed, reject “without further processing, since the people need certainty and regarding the realization of the second electoral round”, convened for October 19.
Arce reiterated that there is no possibility of exposing the mandate of the National Government and that on November 8 he will deliver the presidency to whom the population supported in the ballot.
Vocal Vargas greeted “that the president of the State has rejected this project” and stressed that the TSE only fulfills its duty within the framework of the State Political Constitution and the laws in force in the country.

Then, at a press conference, the president of the TSE, Óscar Hastenoul, He also rejected the controversial initiative of the mass senator.
“It seems to us that this bill is not only foolish, but attempts against national institutionality. We do not say it because of the fact that we can be unemployed, we already have a few months left, that does not worry us, the real event is the fund: it seems that behind this bill there is a project aimed at developing actions that are not related to democratic development,” he said.
He added that these types of projects must be discarded and rejected by all citizens.
