Sales of aluminum products totaled 1,040.9 thousand tons in the first half of 2025, an increase of 2.9% about the same period of 2024.
Internal sales were 947.9 thousand tons (up 4.6%) and exports, 93 thousand tons, a 11% drop compared to the first six months of last year. The data are from the Brazilian Aluminum Association (Abal).
“The numbers confirm the resilience of the Brazilian aluminum industryeven in a global scenario marked by challenges such as tariff and the slowdown of the world economy. Still, it is important to highlight that we have already observed signs of cooling in demand, which reinforces the need to maintain extra attention to the international context and trade policies that directly impact our competitiveness, ”said Abal President Janaina Donas.
In August, the United States relieved part of the sanctions to Brazilian products that lead aluminum, steel or copper in its composition. The measure reaches just over 6% of exports that were overwhelmed and unified these fares around the world.
Among the fastest growing segments in the first semester are electricity, with an increase of 18% in sales, mainly by the significant increase in demand for electrical cables for power transmission and distribution; packaging, with 7%increase; and transport, up 2.4% driven by truck implements sales.
