Activity for architects, builders and the Departmental Patrimony Commission
The city of Melo will receive a group of teachers from the Federal Sul-Rio-Grandense (IFSUL) from Yaguarón next Monday, October 13, who will offer a technical talk on conservation and maintenance of historical buildings.
The meeting was coordinated by the director of the CuCEL, Professor Mauricio De Souza, who was made available to transfer the four specialists who dictate the career of Construction Technician at the Yaguarón headquarters.
The instance will be aimed at members of the Departmental Commission of Heritage, architects and construction companies, with the aim of sharing knowledge about tangible and intangible heritage preservation techniques. Among the issues to be addressed are the methods of repair of stone walls using mortar compatible with the original materials, as well as mixtures with sand of the same stone to guarantee its durability.
The activity will also have the support of the Directorate of Culture, Heritage and Education of the Intendencia, and the participation of geologists and biologists is expected, who will provide knowledge about natural components – as oils of animal origin – that historically were used in the elaboration of contact cements.
The central objective of the proposal is to strengthen local training in historical heritage preservation techniques, providing practical tools to professionals and actors linked to construction and restoration.
