Petrobras announced today (17) a package of social and environmental investments over R $ 226 million, coinciding with the celebrations of the first anniversary of the Bonaventura Energy Complex in Itaboraí, in the Rio Metropolitan Region. 
The industrial hub is composed by the largest natural gas processing unit in the country and will receive pre-salt gas from the Santos Basin.
The company formalized partnerships with four projects through the Petrobras Socioenvironmental Program: young communicators, implemented by BemTV; Intangible Heritage School, under the responsibility of the Forest Institute Association; Early Childhood Citizen, developed by Avante – Education and Social Mobilization; and Rafauna+, carried out by the Refauna institution.
Currently more than 25,000 people benefit directly by projects supported by Petrobras in the region.
Petrobras maintained 11 environmental projects in progress, with contributions of R $ 25.5 million by 2028 for exclusive actions in Itaboraí, São Gonçalo, Maricá, Magé and Macacu Waterfalls, reaching R $ 71 million by 2029 for projects acting in this region, but not exclusively.
In the social area, there are 12 projects in execution, with investments of R $ 4.5 million by 2026 in exclusive actions in Itaboraí, Maricá and São Gonçalo, reaching R $ 125.8 million by 2029 for initiatives acting in this region, but not exclusively.
The state -owned company also performed The donation of notebooks to 30 East Fluminense Community Organizations who met the criteria of the public call for donation. The action, which has benefited more than 18,000 people since 2021, has been contemplating about 5,000 notebooks to non -profit institutions participating in Petrobras community committees and municipal public schools in eight states.
Bonaventure Complex
In addition to the pipeline, implemented for the flow of natural gas and the natural gas processing plant, Petrobras is working on projects in the complex, including two gas thermoelectric plants to participate in the electrical sector auctions, and refining units for fuel and lubricant production.
The start of business operations is scheduled for the first half of October. The complex has more than 600 professionals, among own and outsourced, directly involved in the operation, equipment maintenance and operational support of the gas and utility processing plants.
The complex unit set will have an approximate capacity to produce 12,000 barrels per day (BPD) of group II lubricating oils, 75 thousand BPD of S-10 diesel and 20 thousand bpd aviation kerosene (QAV-1). The plant will operate in synergy with the Duque de Caxias refinery (REDUC).
