The Special Commission in charge of the selection of suitable candidates for the election of magistrates of the constitutional Court (TC), directed by José Balcázar (Perú Libre), approved modifying the schedule of the merit contest in this Wednesday’s session.
In this sense, the parliamentarians accepted the inclusion in the public process of a psychological and psychometric testwhich applicants for constitutional judges must submit.
Likewise, the vote was carried out under editorial charge and resulted in: 7 votes in favor, none against and 1 abstention. Among those who voted in favor, two were with reservations regarding the inclusion of the aforementioned tests and the time of publication of the schedule.

In this way, the technical secretariat of the Special Commission was authorized to present the modifications in the schedule of the stages of the public tender, so that this Friday, March 11, it will be published in the institutional portal of the Congress of the Republic.

On the other hand, in Wednesday’s session, the Special Commission rejected the reconsideration of the votes held on March 1 and 2.
The request was presented by Adriana Tudela (Avanza País), Hernando Guerra García (Popular Force), Eduardo Salhuana (APP) and Jorge Montoya (Popular Renovation). The result was: 4 votes against, two in favor and one abstention.
Consequently, the decision of the working group to exclude nine candidates for magistrates from the constitutional Court.
The exclusion was argued because the applicants did not raise the observations made by the Comptroller General, regarding the declaration of income, assets and income, and for conflict of interest management.
In addition, in today’s session it was realized that the candidate and former congressman of Fuerza Popular Carlos Messiah resigned to continue participating in the public contest.
