The plenary of Chamber of Deputies approved, on Wednesday night (17), an urgent request in favor of the Bill (PL) 2162/2023, which grants amnesty to those involved in the scammers of January 8, 2023.
There were 311 votes favorable, 163 opposites and 7 abstentions.
The result was widely celebrated by deputies in favor of the bill. Prior to the end of the vote, parliamentarians contrary to the proposal shouted words like “no amnesty.”
The decision to guide the vote was taken by the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB)after meeting with party leaders earlier.

After announcing the result, Motta stated that the country needs to be pacified.
“Brazil needs pacification. It is not about erasing the past, but allowing the present to be reconciled and the future built on dialogue and respect. There are urgent themes ahead and the country needs to walk,” he said.
Motta said he will designate a rapporteur for the project on Thursday (18)so that it articulates a substitute text “that finds the support of the wide majority of the house.”
Amnesty
Authored by Deputy Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos-RJ)the Project grants amnesty “to participants in the demands of political motivation that occurred between October 30, 2022 and the date of entry into force of the law”.
Bolsonaro’s allies argue that the amnesty also reaches the former president, convicted by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to more than 27 years in prisonon trial completed last week.
