it was cheap

US investment in the Mexican southeast

For many years the governments of the three levels have been negligent and complacent, they have allowed irregularities that range from money laundering, the resale of tickets, sale of alcohol in most of the stadiums, immigration procedures, abuses against women and men, among others…

They went from panic to damage control, did they succeed? It looks like it is. The sports leaders and the government authorities have been building a narrative that has allowed them to cushion and even dismiss what happened last Saturday at the La Corregidora stadium.

In a few days he won the business. The anxiety lasted a few hours, the Mexican Soccer Federation and the authorities closed the embarrassing episodes with a few sanctions.

The alarms that went off because of the campaign in the stands and on the court went off as soon as the version that there were no deaths won, because, it must be said, there are no signs of murders.

In the end, the parties in conflict are freeing it, some protagonists of the brawl are falling, the directors made soft decisions and justice, better not even talk.

The fact reaches world notoriety because there are antecedents in England and Argentina. Soccer is a social phenomenon that concentrates the largest audiences, the most practiced sport in the world and one of the most lucrative businesses, for good or bad. Its governing body, FIFA (International Federation of Football Association) has more affiliates than the United Nations Organization (UN) and enjoys the autonomy of a sovereign country, although that strength has already been violated by the United States, which uncovered cases of corruption of leaders of various countries in the so-called FIFA Gate.

Soccer managers panicked over what happened during the Querétaro match against Atlas because Mexican soccer already knows about sanctions, it was excluded from the World Cup in Italy in 1990 for fielding players older than the allowed one, the so-called cachirules, in the current qualifiers the mMexican National Team has had to play without an audience because of the homophobic cry.

If it had been confirmed that there were deaths inside the stadium, the sanctions would have been severe, including taking away the venue for the 2026 World Cup that it will organize with the United States and Canada and who knows what other punishments, hence there was an urgency in denying the theme of the dead

For many years the governments of the three levels have been negligent and complacent, they have allowed irregularities that range from money laundering, the resale of tickets, sale of alcohol in most of the stadiums, immigration procedures, abuses against women and men, among others; For this reason, what happened in the La Corregidora stadium should not be left only in the hands of the leaders, it is about the overflowing glass that has now been spilled.

Almost five years ago, I published an article in El Economista entitled The laundry room of Mexican soccer (https://www.eleconomista.com.mx/opinion/El-lavadero-del-futbol-mexicano-20170817-0156.html), surely I fell short, because what now transcends is much more and not recommended at all.

In addition to the owners, team administrators and governments, the media must also assume their responsibility, there are not a few broadcasts and programs that provoke fans, overheat some rivalries and even clashes occur between commentators beyond analysis and the comment.

The great Ney Blanco de Oliveira, who played for Santos, América, Oro and Atlas, used to say that the best of football is on the field, last Saturday the mob shattered the concept, sullied the playing field, offended the sport and They attacked the public.

As a fan I am left with the tears of Hernán Cristante and the courage of the champions of the Atlas.
