Inamu presented the ‘March 8 Medal’ Award

In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the National Institute for Women (Inamu), awarded the March 8 Medal, as a tribute from the country, to the participation and career of women who have contributed to the development and growth of the Republic of Panama, focused on women’s human rights and gender equity, opening spaces for political, social, economic and cultural participation.

During the event, Nellys Herrera, general director in charge of Inamu, stated that, through these actions, they seek to recognize and make visible the work that women from different civil society organizations carry out day after day, for the benefit of the country.

“As the National Government, we are proud to be able to deliver this recognition, which makes their contributions visible, because each of the winners builds and opens doors for future generations,” said Herrera.

For this call, 93 women applied nationwide and 16 were elected in various categories, who received their recognition from the First Lady, Jazmín Colón de Cortizo, María Inés Castillo de Sanmartín Minister of Social Development, Marta Elida Gordón Minister in Charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Deputy Kayra Harding and Nellys Herrera, General Director in Charge of the National Institute for Women.
