Congressman Waldemar Cerrón showed his support for the President Pedro Castillo, who was again summoned by the Oversight Commission of the Congress to come and give his statements on the meetings in Sarratea.
For the spokesman for Peru Libre, it is not that the president is refusing to respond to the alleged accusations against him, since he has stated that he will do so in writing, but that there is an interest in the head of state attending the Congress to present it as a “trophy.”

“I consider that the president is responding and is doing it in writing. What’s the problem with him doing it one way or another? Or are they not valid means? Another thing is that they want to wear it as a trophy, in an exhibition to demonstrate a form of power. It seems to me that it is not correct”, he pointed out in statements to Panamericana
The last March 5, the president sent a document to the Control Commission, in which he informed the members that he will not receive them at the Government Palace to answer about the meetings at the house of Jirón Sarratea, and that he will only do so in writing.
However, on March 9, this congressional working group, chaired by Hector Venturainsisted on his request and called on the head of state to reassess his decision to respond in writing to the list of questions.

In this regard, Cerrón pointed out that it is still necessary to know what the president’s response to this second invitation will be, and clarified that his position is that it be investigated with due process.
“The president is being indisposed when there are urgent issues in the country. I am not against the investigation. Let it be investigated whoever it is and whoever falls falls. What is nefarious must leave the country, but with due process, ”he added.
