Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés will be one of the main figures of the 57 Barcelona Jazz Festival, which will take place between October 10, 2025 and March 1, 2026.
Founder of the legendary group Irakere And winner of multiple Grammy awards, at 83 years Valdés remains a global reference of jazz.
The festival, considered a marathon of the genre, will have 48 concerts distributed in 10 scenarios of the cityincluding the Palau of Catalan music, the great theater of the Liceu and the Conservatori of the Liceu.
Among the guest artists are Laurie Anderson, Janis Siegel, Miguel Poveda, Tomatito, Yerai Cortés and Andrea Motis Guitar Trio, said Latin press.
The program includes special tributes to her Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington, with an inaugural concert entitled “The Moment of Truth”, played by Barcelona Jazz Orchestra with vocalist Tricia Boutté.
Likewise, a tribute to Fitzgerald and Ellington will be presented on November 28 by the Sant Andre Jazz Band under the Ellingtonian title.
Flamenco will also have an outstanding presence with the show of drawer! That will bring together figures such as José Mercé, Soleá Morente, Dorantes and Las Migas.
In addition, Andrea Motis will present two premieres dedicated to Amy Winehouse, accompanied by the Barcelona Gospel Messengers.
The festival seeks to offer a wide look at jazz and related music, integrating historical genres and tributes, while Celebrate the path of key figures such as Chucho Valdés.
