The Minister of Justice, Juan José Santiváñezdenied that the disseminated audios, which would involve him and the Premier Eduardo Arana in a case of presumed influences in the media, configure criminal conduct.
In an interview for the Peruvian real estate chamber channel, Minister Juan José Santiváñez replied about the dissemination of audios that link him with alleged acts of influence peddling, stating that the recordings do not contain “any criminal conduct.” In his defense, Santiváñez accused a faction of the Prosecutor’s Office of forming a “criminal organization” with certain journalists to “assemble” a thesis against him.
“The issue of audios, to begin with, the audios do not have any criminal conduct, from the point of view that is seen. Second, those audios presumably are part of a folder where I am being investigated for influence peddling and that they are supposed to be scourged,” said Santiváñez.
Santiváñez said that the audios, which are part of a lacrada fiscal folder, were delivered to the media 24 hours before their own lawyers and experts could access them. “This is not surprised because I really know how the current criminal of these prosecutors is,” he said. According to the minister, these “Pseudo-Periodists of Investigation” convert the “fiscal thesis” into an alleged investigation to generate a “great uncover” coordinated with the judicial apparatus.
The minister anticipated that the dissemination of these audios will probably generate in the next few days a search or a restrictive measure against him, describing this as the way in which, according to him, said “criminal organization” operates.
In addition, he accused some prosecutors of filtering the recordings to the press, which he considered part of a “criminal act.”
