The Economic Activity Index (IBC-BR) fell 0.5% in July compared to June. According to the Central Bank, it is the third consecutive retraction of the indicator, calculated already with seasonal adjustment.
According to the monetary authority, the sector that presented the highest retreat was the industrial (1.1%). Already the IBC-BR of the agricultural sector retreated 0.8%. In the case of the service sector, a retraction of 0.2%was observed.
Compared to July 2024, the IBC-BR has rise from 1.1%. In the accumulated 12 months (period finalized in July), the discharged rise was 3.5%. In the period between January and July, the result was also up 2.9%.

In these two situations, it is not necessary for the calculation to be done with seasonal adjustment, since they are corresponding periods.
The seasonal adjustment calculation is made when reference periods have differences in relation to the number of business days or typical oscillations of some activities, especially regarding production peaks.
