Venezuela appreciates solidarity from Cuba and Bolivia after the US hostile act in the Caribbean

Organizations condemn the assault of gringo ship to Venezuelan boat

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yván Gil, thanked the Government of the Republic of Cuba, on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, for his firm rejection of this new hostile act of the United States against the Caribbean as a whole.

Through his Telegram channel, Foreign Minister Gil, thanked President Miguel Díaz-Canel, for his energetic rejection of the recent warnings of the United States, which included an act of unacceptable intimidation against nine Venezuelan fishermen in waters under our jurisdiction. “We recognize and value its commitment to peace and stability in the Caribbean, thus strengthening the ties of solidarity and cooperation between our countries in defense of sovereignty and regional justice.”

The Cuban president, wrote on his Telegram channel that: «We condemn assault on Venezuelan fishing boat by US military in the exclusive economic zone of Venezuela, illegal act, contrary to international law, and a cowardly and dangerous provocation. Latin America and the Caribbean is a peace zone ».

In another publication, Gil pointed out that this assault on a Venezuelan fishing boat not only represents a violation of our sovereignty, but also evidences an attempt to climb the aggressions against our people. His solidarity is invaluable at the moment.

The Cuban Chancellor denounced through a publication in the same social network the illegal assault of US military forces to Venezuelan fishing boat in the exclusive economic zone of Venezuela, “in manifest violation of international law, which constitutes a dangerous provocation that threatens the peace of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

Similarly, Foreign Minister Gil, thanked the president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Luis Arce, for his firm solidarity in the face of the bellicose provocations directed against our people and our Caribbean region. “We especially value your call to respect the status of the Peace Zone of the Caribbean, proclaimed in 2014 by the CELAC, as well as its demand for violations of international law to stop.”

In his Telegram channel, President Arce wrote that the Plurinational State of Bolivia joins the complaint of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against a new act of provocation of the United States. The assault of a Yankee war ship against a fishing vessel in Venezuelan waters, on September 12, constitutes an interpost and violation act of international law.

«We highlight the Vocation of Peace of Venezuela, which had the tactical-strategic intelligence so as not to fall into that planned action against its sovereignty. We also accuse Trump’s administration plans in his claim to destroy the Bolivarian revolution and unleash a war conflict in the region. Latin America and the Caribbean is, and must remain, a peace zone! ”He said.

This Saturday, the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounced a new provocation by the United States Navy, when a country’s military destroyer assaulted a Venezuelan fishermen boat in territorial waters of our country.

The statement requires the US to immediate cessation of these operations that endanger peace and stability in the Caribbean, while calling the US people to recognize the danger of these maneuvers ordered by their government, to cause an incident armed in the hemisphere.

An exclusive economic zone (ZEE), such as the one registered by the incident, is a maritime area adjacent to the territorial sea of a country, which extends to 200 nautical miles from the baseline, where the riverside state has sovereign rights for the exploration, exploitation and conservation of natural resources, as well as jurisdiction on economic and research activities.

While the State exercises rights over their resources, other states enjoy the freedom of navigation and overflow within these areas, respecting the rights of the riverside and international law. But in no way foreign ships have jurisdiction to implement control and security measures.
