The extinction of seven autonomous organisms and the absorption of their functions by various secretariats was not necessarily reflected in greater resources for the dependencies that will now assume that work, because although some of them will receive more funds next year, others will even suffer cuts.
According to data from the Federation Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF) 2026, one of the entities that will have a significant increase in its funds for the next year is the Ministry of Energy, which will take care of the work that previously carried out the Energy and National Hydrocarbons Regulatory Commissions.
In 2026, according to the proposal sent to Congress by President Claudia Sheinbaum, that agency would have funds for 267 thousand 439.1 million pesos (MDP), an increase of 86.8 percent compared to the 138 thousand 307.4 MDP that it exercised this year.
However, not all secretariats that will absorb the powers of extinct autonomous organisms will receive increases in that magnitude. Public Education, for example, will have an increase of 6.4 percent despite the fact that it will assume the work that the National Commission for the Continuous Improvement of Education will be done.
The Ministry of Economy will receive in 2026 funds for 3,535.5 MDP – there are 2 million more than in 2025 -, so it will have a fall in real terms of 3.3 percent.
With these resources, he must take charge of the National Antitrust Commission, which in turn will assume the functions of the extinct Federal Institute of Telecommunications and Federal Commission of Economic Competition.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography will cover the work used by the National Council for Evaluation of Social Development Policy. Despite this, in PPEF 2026 it appears with funds for 11 thousand 807.5 MDP, a fall in real terms of 6.8 percent compared to the 12 thousand 245.3 MDP of the current year.
The Secretariat of Anti -Corruption and Good Governance now with the functions of the National Institute of Transparency, access to information and protection of personal data will have a decrease in real terms of .9 percent, from 1,699 MDP to 1,743.1 MDP.
