The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, described the assault last Friday to the Atuner ship, Carmen Rosa, as “embarrassing” and said that the Bolivarian government will protect fishermen, which is why they should not “fall into terror.”
Such signaling was made within the framework of the balance offered this Sunday with respect to the day called “town to the barracks”, held on Saturday.
Godfather reported that the fishermen were authorized to carry out their activity and were surprised by an American destroyer who addressed them to “make them a visit and record that lasted 8 hours.”

They were (the fishermen) duly authorized by the Venezuelan State, since they are part of the fishermen system that we have created, to bring the fish to land ».
The chief general said that the same crew of the Carmen Rosa ship, “spotted the destroyer”, since “they had it in a view, in addition that it was also in line of view of our Bolivarian Navy.”
The fishermen explained that “the gringos who loudly approached the ship, deceived them, since they were told that they had communication with Caracas,” said the head of Defense.
«It is assumed that to make an operation of that nature they have to notify us, respecting the agreements. They did not. They cheated the fishermen, said they were in communication with us and we are still waiting for the final report of that visit and registration to the fishermen. That is to say that here, zero convention of the sea, zero treaties of those we have signed with the United States in drug matters in the sea. That is to say a violation of the treaties, to international law. This fact is embarrassing, ”he emphasized.
The senior officer said that it is inexplicable that “a destroyer with a crew of 380 people, with vertical launch of missile launch, anti -aircraft missiles, cruise missiles, anti -submarine, and endowed with a 127 millimeter cannon,” with so much power it has been used for the purpose of “intimidating” and “humiliating our fishermen,” he warned.
In this regard, he told fishermen, (not only those of Venezuela), that “they do not fall into terror.”
He said they have the protection of the Government and the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
«We are going to accompany our fishermen to exercise their productive fishing activity, duly authorized in our seas, in our jurisdictional waters. We are going to protect them, ”he emphasized.
