Mexico asks for the extradition of Hernán Bermúdez
Mexico asked Paraguay for the extradition Hernán Bermúdez, accused of links with a powerful drug trafficking poster.
The former Secretary of Security of Tabasco was captured by Paraguayan forces, in collaboration with Mexican authorities, the night from Friday to Saturday in a luxurious sector of the Paraguayan city of Mariano Roque Alonso.
Bermúdez Requena, near López Hernández, is accused of being head of the criminal band “La Barredora”, linked to the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
Although the Mexican Security Secretariat said Friday night that the former official had already been transferred to the country, a federal source close to the case, which asked not to be identified, clarified that the extradition process is still ongoing this Saturday.
In Asunción, the Attorney General’s Office confirmed that Mexico has already requested the delivery of Bermúdez Requena and that on Saturday a first hearing is planned.
On the former police chief, who left Mexico last January, weighed a red card issued by Interpol in mid -July accused “of criminal association, extortion and express kidnapping.”
