The Brazilian Luisa Stefani and the Hungarian Timea Babos defeated the Brazilian Laura Pigossi and Ingrid Martins by 2 sets to 1 (partial 4/6, 6/3 and 10/4), on Saturday afternoon (13) in Villa-Lobos Park, to win the title of Sp Open pairs (the WTA 250 of the largest city in the Americas).

This is the first time since 1986 that a Brazilian has won a title of pairs of a WTA tournament in Brazil. The previous feat was reached by Niege Dias and Patricia Medrado in Guarujá.
After the title, Stefani, highlighted the fact that he disputed the decision against two friends, with whom he has shared special moments in his career: “There are two of my best friends here. Lau [Laura Pigossi]It is very hard to be on the opposite side, after all we have gone together. After Tokyo, a lot happened in simple and doubles in Brazil’s women’s tennis. ”
But she also celebrated the partnership with Timea Babos, stating that, with this achievement, Hungarian has become a little Brazilian: “Brazil is also your home now!”.

Who frustrated the expectation of the fans was the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, who last Friday (12) stopped before the Mexican Renata Zarazua in a match valid for the quarterfinals of the competition. The Mexican was out of the competition’s decision after being defeated on Saturday by the French Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah.
