Live Maria
Under the inspiration of music Maria Mariaby Fernando Brant and Milton Nascimento, the program Live Maria It aired for the first time in National Radio AM from Brasilia. Over the decades, it has become an expression instrument of the women’s struggle movement, local and nationally. Through their microphones they passed women who positioned themselves against the dictatorship, victims of violence and who actively participated in the democratic reconstruction.
The program was a starting point for the creation of the DF Women’s Forum. He fought for the construction of the first Specialized Police Station for Women and the Women’s Rights Council, in the Federal District. In the constituent, he headed the petitions for the guarantee of the 120-day maternity leave and daycare up to 6 years old.
In recognition of the trajectory and impact of the Live Mariawas created by the United Nations (UN) in 1990, the Latin American day of the image of women in the media, also celebrated on September 14. The attraction also motivated the definition of the date of foundation of the network of journalists with gender vision in the Americas, in Buenos Aires, on September 14, 2016.
