The Location of Twiggy was possible thanks to the articulation between the district personality of Santiago de Cali, the Personería de Medellín and the Mayor’s Office of Medellín, through the Management of Sexual and Gender Diversities. The institutions advanced a joint operation that allowed them to find their whereabouts and guarantee their immediate attention.
Currently, María del Pilar is being valued at Icodol Hospital, in the Laureles neighborhood of Medellín. Although it was confirmed that he is alive, the authorities have not yet delivered details about their state of health or the conditions in which it was found, while its integral recovery is prioritized.
This result has been received with relief by social organizations, activists and citizens who closely followed the case. It also shows the importance of inter -institutional coordination in the care of cases that involve risks to the life and integrity of people from historically vulnerable sectors, such as the trans population.

The Personerías of Cali and Medellín stressed that this joint action reaffirms their commitment to the defense of human rights, especially those who face discrimination and violence due to identity or gender expression reasons. They insisted that no person should be violated by their sexual orientation or gender identity.
The case of Twiggy has also put in the center of conversation the need to strengthen the mechanisms of protection and response to disappearances of people LGBTIQ+, as well as the duty to guarantee safe, worthy and free environments of violence for all diversities in Colombia.
