Dollar BCV reaches 160 bolivars: in a month the price increased 21%

The increase in the dollar has remained despite the efforts of the administration of Nicolás Maduro to end the parallel and average price that they called “criminal dollar”

The dollar price published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) exceeded 160 bolivars on Friday, September 12. In the last month, the foreign currency rose 21%.

So far this year, the increase has been 208.44%, from the 52.02 bolivars per dollar in which it was quoted at the end of 2024.

The increase in the dollar has remained despite the efforts of the administration of Nicolás Maduro to end the parallel and average price that they called “criminal dollar”, as a strategy to stop the increase in the price of the currency and stabilize the exchange market.

On May 28, the authorities announced the arrest of 20 people involved in setting the price of the parallel dollar through web pages and accounts on social networks as a dollar monitor.

Economists have said that the elimination of the parallel dollar does not solve the structural problem of monetary trust. Given the measures applied by the mature administration on the parallel dollar, many businesses and citizens have begun to set prices in euros or in cryptocurrencies such as the USDT.
