Interior Minister, Carlos Malaverhe referred to the possibility of being censored by the Congressafter having been questioned on Thursday due to the increase in citizen insecurity.
The head of the Mininter considered that he responded with transparency before the national representation. However, Congresswoman Sus the walls announced that she will promote a motion of censure against the minister.
“They are democratic mechanisms and one has to accept the decisions of the congress or, in any case, the decisions when one is withdrawn the trust by the Presidency of the Republic,” he said in RPP.
“Meanwhile, one has to be focused on the main problem that is the fight against crime, a situation in which we are focused from the Ministry of Interior and the National Police,” he added.
The minister considered that work to face organized crime “is not enough from the operational aspect.” In that sense, he assured that reforms are required from Congress, such as the extension of detention terms for unionized persons of serious crimes.
“We would need that legal framework to be able to stop for 15 days to these people who are involved in extortion, sicariato and activities related to this crime,” said Malaver, who said that the police detention period is 48 hours.
“For these scenarios you have to make strong decisions and I think it is time to be able to give that legal framework. The police are working, it makes all efforts,” he emphasized.
