The body rescued this Thursday (11) at Piratininga Beach, Niterói, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, is from teenager Niquely Pereira Santana, 14 years oldthat it disappeared On the night of the previous day (10) after being dragged by the strong current next to the coast on the beach of Leme, south of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The young woman’s body was located by bathers on Piratininga Beach and sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in downtown Rio, where the family recognized.
Niquel’s boyfriend, Paulo Ricardo de Souza Silva, 15, who came in with her at sea, remains missing. The couple was together with Paulo’s father, Ricardo Costa, 37. He started drowning while trying to get a ball that fell into the sea by participating in a football match with his family in the beach sand.
Ricardo and two adults were saved by swimmers, but the couple of young people were dragged by the strong waves and disappeared. They entered the water to try to save the other people in the family, but ended up disappearing into the sea, which has waves of more than 2 meters high, a lot of current and ditches.

The maritime rescue group reported that searches continue uninterruptedusing aircraft, drones, divers, inflatable boats, speedboats and aquatic bikes between the beaches of Leme and Piratininga in Niterói.
The firefighters explained that Niquel’s body was taken to a beach across Guanabara Bay, far from the river, due to the strong current.
