Bolivian leads a team of volunteer combat paramedics that will travel to Ukraine to assist the wounded

Jaime (fictitious name, for security reasons) is a young man of Bolivian parents, who leads a group of four volunteers -of different nationalities-, who will travel to Ukraine to provide paramedical assistance.

“I know I can help… Even if I can help two or three people, I will; it may not be a big impact, but I can walk, I can run, I can carry things, ”he says, with a vocation for service. Jaime, like his companions, have training as combat paramedics. In fact, some of them are ex-military.

Jaime spent a year in a war zone, some time ago; perhaps that is why he says that he is not afraid of death. His fear is different, it is knowing that he could help and he didn’t. “If we have the skills to help, we can make a change,” he says.

Combat medics are focused on saving lives; They don’t have much time to act. Jaime explains that your intervention can make the difference between life and death. He knows that they will find themselves with bullet wounds and severed limbs, which means bleeding. And that is why they will carry medical supplies that, although basic, are very useful: tactical tourniquets, chest seals and Israeli gauze or bandages.

In order to buy these supplies, a campaign of fundraising, through Medfundwhich is a medical assistance program that works with the donations of third parties. The person in charge of the campaign is Joseph Andrew Kittelson, to whose BNB bank account number 1520492778, donations can be made.

Jaime explains that the money raised will be used exclusively for the purchase of medical supplies, since the tickets, transportation and food of the volunteers are at your own expense. “We travel with our own funds,” she remarks.

Volunteer groups must be small, as he explains, because this makes transport easier. They have already had contact with the Ukrainian embassy. Once in that country, which has been invaded by Russia, Jaime and his team will have to manage to get to the place of the war, where they will be most useful.

In addition to providing medical support, volunteers andwill train other local people in the use of these inputs. On the other hand, J.aime comments that he has also been contacted by people asking him to take things to their relatives in Ukraine, a task he intends to fulfill.

The team will be initially, two weeks, but are open to staying longerin which they can serve and help as many as they can.
