Arisbel Cabeza Reyes was arrested after a police operation; He was injured in a suicide attempt and is hospitalized in critical condition.
Madrid, Spain.- After several days of search, the authorities captured this Friday Arisbel Cabeza Reyes, indicated as responsible for three homicides that occurred in the province of Artemis. The arrest occurred in Valdéz, Bahía Honda, in the midst of a wide police deployment.
According to local testimonies and reports on social networks, the man was armed and, when he was cornered, he would have shot in the head with a shotgun in an attempt at suicide.
Seriously injured, he was first transferred to the Honda Bay Hospital, then to the commander Pinares of San Cristóbal, and later to the Calixto García de la Habana hospital, where he remains admitted under strict medical surveillance. His condition has been described as a critic, although with stable vital signs.
Cabeza Reyes was sought since the beginning of September after the murder of Francisco Torres Rodríguez, 80, and his son Yaciel Torres Remedio, 46, at the El Cusco farm, Las Terrazas, Candelaria municipality. He is also attributed to the murder of his ex -partner in San Cristóbal, which increased the alarm between neighbors and forced to reinforce patrols in different rural areas of Artemis.
The escape of the alleged murderer had generated great concern in local communities, where sightings and threats against relatives were reported. In San Cristóbal, dozens of residents gathered on the outskirts of the Comandante Pinares hospital, demanding justice and crying out for clarifying the facts.
So far, an official statement from the Ministry of Interior (Minint) or the Prosecutor’s Office that definitively confirms the list of crimes that is charged with its judicial situation has not been issued.
