In the first interview that the prosecutor holds after the leak of their conversations, just on the evening of Friday, March 4, Ciro Gómez Leyva asked him if he intends to resign from office, which Gertz Manero rejected and accused that he is facing “extortion.” ”.
“In this matter, we have to face a reality. We are facing a true criminal media extortion, let me repeat it: ‘criminal media extortion’. (What for, Alexander). To be able to lynch the prosecutor because he is attacking the spurious interests of groups that we are investigating, bringing to trial, whom we have managed to prosecute and keep in jail and that, truly, has them outraged and they have found a way to make a force structure and that is a very clear extortion”, he stressed.
The prosecutor explained that these groups have dedicated time to establishing a period of lynching against him, although he did not specify in what process, since he said that all the cases that are being processed today have caused a mud war to be organized and that this system what he seeks is to disqualify him.
“If you have an accusation, you do it in the legal framework; no, not in this case, (on the contrary) they used a system of espionage, of massive disclosure of material that has been manipulated to generate pressure”, he pointed out.
He denounced that it is sought to establish that he makes illegal use of power and thus affect his credibility. He said that all the interventions of communications, or espionage in the past have never materialized, but that he hopes that this time the public ministry will be able to detect those who committed the crime of espionage against him.
Regarding whether in those conversations he was touching on the subject of his ex-sister-in-law subject to trial, Gertz Manero acknowledged that he was talking about it, but not in the way it is presented in the audiobecause he said that the case of his brother Federico and that he has Alejandra Cuevas in jail has never been processed by the FGR, since it is common law.
