Great mobilization of ambulances, police, fire and civil protection units are observed this Thursday, September 11 between the cities of Maracaibo and San Francisco after the explosion of a warehouse of fireworks of the Market Gallo Verde, which was in the industrial zone that both municipalities share.
The state governor, Luis Caldera, who appeared at the place of the explosion, informed that seven of the most important health centers in the region are activated to serve citizens affected by the explosion and fire that shuddered the daily life of the capital of Zulia.
Among the hospitals activated to respond to the emergency are the University, General of the South Pedro Iturbe, Noriega Trigo del Segura Social and the Coromoto, where the arrival of ambulances with patients for the burning unit was expected.
Caldera indicated that there are 23 people injured and 482 affected houses, while the expansive wave was about six kilometers and felt at the Rafael Urdaneta air base and at the La Chinita International Airport that are in the same area. The officials of the National Risk Management System managed to confine the flames in the place of the explosion.
According to photos and videos shared by social networks, the pyrotechnic warehouse was completely consumed including its infrastructure. The expansive wave had a considerable radius of action and produced housing destruction and fire in the Ricaurte 2 sector of the Martial Hernández parish of San Francisco.
The fights, battle and sectors one, two and three of the victory were also affected, according to the information provided by Governor Caldera.
So far there are no deaths. Nor estimates of material damage, although according to graphic evidence, several homes were destroyed, mainly roofs and some walls, by the expansive wave. In some sectors fires were generated. Vehicles were equally impacted and the warehouse itself was reduced to debris.
The authorities are investigating the causes that generated the event.
