At 9:30 in the morning of Thursday, a fireworks factory located in the industrial zone between the Maracaibo and San Francisco municipalities of the Zulia state exploded.
The detonation affected numerous homes that are in the surroundings of the factory, in particular those of the South America neighborhood where the neighbors left their houses in the midst of the detonation of the fireworks that minutes after the explosion continued to listen.
The fire spread to some of these humble homes also affecting vehicles and domestic electricity and gas services that had to be disconnected.
So far there is no official report of wounded or possible fatal victims but the factory was at its usual work schedule. The scene of San Francisco and Maracaibo as well as PDVSA units.
State police are dedicated to the situation as well as civil protection officials. The state governor, Luis Caldera, appeared at the scene.
The expansive wave of the explosion was felt in both Maracaibo and San Francisco where, due to proximity, it produced the destruction of windows and glass doors causing alarm among the inhabitants of the city.
Gallo Mini Fo wrappers and even complete fireworks packages of different types were scattered through the areas surrounding the pyrotechnic factory.
