The Association of Professors of the Central University of Venezuela (APUCV), through a statement, reiterated the urgency of attending and resolving the salary crisis of the university sector.
In the text, Posted on Wednesday, September 10the teachers explained the serious salary situation that four actions face and agreed:
1. Demandar of the National Government that desists unilaterally imposing working conditions and continuing to precarious the living and work conditions of university students.
2. Exhort the University Council and the Faculty and Schools Councils that reiterate the urgency of resolving the salary crisis of the university sector.
3. Insist on the proposal to salarize the so -called Economic War Bonus as a first step to recover salary in the university sector.
4. Promote the unity of workers nationwide, in order to boost a campaign for a decent salary.
They rejected the mature administration’s refusal to increase wages since March 2022, which reduced the salaries of university professors to amounts ranging between 1 and 3 dollars per month.
In the same way, they questioned the implementation of bonds (economic war and food) instead of an increase in salary, since in this way “merit, hierarchy, experience and dedication” are left, also have no impact on the calculation of legal and conventional socio -economic benefits.
The professors recalled that on two occasions, amid protests for decent wages, senior officials of the Ministry of University Education committed themselves to establishing work tables with the unions and unions to address the issue, but so far their word have breached.
