Violence in the country showed its most cruel face again. The public force was the target of a new drone attack, this time in southern Bolívar, on boundaries between the municipalities of Santa Rosa and Morales, where two professional soldiers died while fulfilling their service work.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, in the midst of military operations framed in the Ayacucho Plus campaign plan. As reported by the National Army, troops of the Battalion of Terrestrial Operations No. 8 were attacked with improvised explosive artifacts, launched from an UAS system (drone), attributed to the organized armed group (GAO) Eln.
In the action, the soldiers Danier Felipe Muñoz Ortiz and Cristian Andrés Hernández Jiménez lost their lives, while four more uniformed were injured by the chips.
“In this terrorist action, and despite the efforts of combat nurses, unfortunately two of our professional soldiers died in place,” said the National Army.

Both uniformed were from the department of Huila, specifically from the municipalities of Oporapa and Tello, where their families today cry their departure.
The institution rejected the attack, warning that not only attentive against the integrity of the troops, but also puts the civilian population of the area at risk.
“This type of actions constitutes a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law,” they said from the Army.

Finally, military authorities reiterated that operations in southern Bolívar continue in a sustained way, in order to counteract the criminal actions of illegal armed groups and protect communities.
