
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado He offered a speech in defense of freedom and democracy during the Iran 2025 conference, organized by the National Union for Democracy in Iran.
In his speech, Machado thanked Prince’s invitation Pada Pahlavi and stressed the importance of the meeting. He pointed out that this is a crucial moment “not only for Venezuela, but for the entire region, Latin America and all those who believe in freedom and democracy worldwide.”
The leader reaffirmed the commitment of the Venezuelan people with their struggle for freedom and recalled that “it has been 26 years of fighting a criminal regime that today shows their worst face.”
Machado made reference to elections of July 28, 2024, ensuring that “millions of Venezuelans gave a monumental example of commitment and courage to choose Edmundo González Urrutia as elected president of Venezuela”, while denounced that the government “chose to steal the elections and unleash a fierce persecution that continues to this day.”

He warned about cooperation between the governments of Venezuela and Iran, noting that “their growing military presence and the exchange of dangerous technologies, more evident now than at any other time, have put us all at risk.”
Machado called the international community to close ranks in the defense of democratic values: “Just as evil unites to sustain themselves, who defend justice and freedom must organize and coordinate even better.”
The Opposition He stressed that the power structure in Venezuela is sustained thanks to a minority rejected by most citizens, and assured that within the government itself “increasing fractures” are already perceived.
He said that “Venezuela’s liberation will have global repercussions and will serve as a catalyst for other societies such as the brave people of Iran.”
