Santo Domingo.-Citizenship will receive, through its mobile devices, alerts on natural phenomena, disasters, citizen security or about disappearances of people with the new national alert system, whose first stage of technical test was carried out yesterday.
The new tool seeks to strengthen citizen protection through immediate, geolocalized and direct notifications to the mobile devices of the population.
It works through Cell Broadcast technology (cell phone diffusion), which allows you to send real -time alert messages to all people within a specific geographical area, without depending on mobile data or external applications.
The Claro company was the first provider to adapt its infrastructure for these transmissions.
During the launching ceremony, the Director of the National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1, Colonel Randolfo Rijo, explained that the National Alert System is designed with a comprehensive approach and will have two large axes of action: natural phenomena and disasters, under the coordination of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), responsible for issuing alerts related to hurries, storms, floods, flood natural.

Citizen Security: Coordinated by the National Police, the Attorney General’s Office and the 9-1-1 system, with the aim of locating missing persons under conditions of vulnerability or addressing critical situations of violence.
Type of alerts
In addition, the system contemplates specialized alerts according to the different scenarios: Amber Alert: for missing minors; Blue alert, aimed at older people with disabilities; Silver alert (silver), for older adults with cognitive limitations; and pink alert, oriented to cases of gender violence against women.
