Jerusalem. Israel launched yesterday September 9, an air attack against Hamas leaders in Doha, the capital of Catarat first the movement indicated that its “leadership survived” the bombings.
The attack aimed at Hamas leader, Khalil Al-Hayyawho has led indirect negotiations with Israel, as well as Zaher Jabarin, another high position of Hamas, according to an Israeli official. Israel justified the operation as a response to the attack in Jerusalem on Monday, claimed by Hamas, in which six Israelis died.
“Hamas’ leadership survived the cowardly attempted murder,” said Suhail Al-Hindi, one of Hamas’s political leaders.
It is the first time that Israel Bombardea Catar, which houses the largest American base in the region.
However, since the war began in Gaza, triggered by Hamas’s attacks in Israeli territory in October 2023, the Hebrew State has attacked Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
Doha, headquarters of the political bureau of Hamas since 2012, said that one of its security agents died in the attack and said that it aimed at the residences of several Hamas leaders in their territory.
He also denied having received a previous warning from Washington. The White House spokeswoman had said shortly before the United States warned to taste as soon as he knew about the attack.
Criticism
“Bombardear unilaterally to taste, a sovereign nation and a nearby ally of the United States that works hard, with courage and assuming risks to negotiate peace, does not promote the objectives of Israel or the United States,” Karoline Leavitt, his spokesperson, told the press.
The Netanyahu office said it was a “totally independent” action, without participation from other countries. “Israel began, Israel carried out and Israel assumes all responsibility,” he said.
The attack, which coincides with a new Israeli military offensive to take control of Gaza City, was convicted of a multitude of countries. The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, said it was a “flagrant rape” of the sovereignty of Qatar.
The heir prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Bin Salmán, described it in turn as a “criminal act.” He was also condemned, Iran, a key ally of Hamas, as well as Jordan, United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, France and Germany.
