The Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, maintains a wide advantage in the contest between four candidates, according to a survey published Tuesday.
The survey of New York Times/University of Siena shows Mamdani in the lead with 46 % in the intention to vote, more than 20 percentage points above its closest competitor, the former New York governor Andrew Cuomo (Democrat), with 24 %.
Republican Curtis Sliwa occupies third place with 15 %, followed by current Mayor Eric Adams (Democrat) with 9 %.
The former Governor Cumo presented his candidacy after losing the Democratic primaries against Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly; Adams decided not to participate in the primaries.

The last survey showed that 5 % said they were not sure or did not say who would support.
The survey was done last week while the speculation that Adams, considered a remote possibility, would leave the contest and could take a position in the Trump administration.
Press reports indicated that close to President Trump considered granting Adams already Sliwa on the administration to get them out of the contest and increase the possibilities of Cuomo by allowing him to face Mamdani in person.
However, despite the speculation, Sliwa immediately discarded immediately accept any position under the presidency of Trump. Adams declared that he would continue his campaign.
The mayor in exercise also expressed optimism about exceeding expectations and pointed out that most surveys did not foresee Mamdani’s defeat on Cuomo in Democratic primaries.
