Indecopi sanctioned Sport Huancayo in the first instance and the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) after verifying that security measures were not guaranteed during a match played on May 11, 2024 at the Huancayo Stadium, where a spectator fell from the East Tribune, more than 3.5 meters high, and suffered serious injuries.

The Huancayo Sport Club was fined with 161.17 UIT (S/ 862 227) for not implementing a rescue plan, not activating the insurance in front of the accident, not guaranteeing security in the East Tribune – which lacked railings and signaling – and not providing immediate attention to the injured person, who even had to pay for his transfer in a particular ambulance.

Meanwhile, the IPD, owner of the sports venue, received a sanction of 15 UIT (S/ 80 282.50) for not ensuring adequate conditions in the infrastructure. In addition, the agency must implement permanent security systems in the stadium.
The resolution includes corrective measures: Sport Huancayo must return to the affected medical and transfer expenses, while the IPD will have to guarantee structural improvements. Both entities can still appeal the decision.
