The Attorney General of the Republic Tarek William Saab, informed that after the corresponding arrest warrant was processed, they were charged and deprived of liberty by the Public Ministry, the subjects Pedro Amaya and Freddy Franco, provisional prosecutor and auxiliary prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office 1 of the Carabobo State; for the crimes of aggravated extortion, illegitimate deprivation of liberty, delay or intentional omission of functions and association.
These subjects were direct participants in the acts of extortion, committed by the offender Rafael Reyna; who is prosecuted and deprived of liberty in a detention center in the capital.
It should be remembered that Reyna, by profession lawyer, simulated being a fiscal and together with former public prosecutor’s officials, already charged with corruption in Carabobo, demanded large amounts of money to their victims.
At the time of his apprehension, he was able to seize the amount of $ 14,000 and a vehicle, the latter belonging to a complainant linked to an investigation.
Likewise, the highest authority of the Public Ministry said that in a previous procedure the imputation was carried out against the former Carabobo State, Miguel José Duran Trejo, together with the 10 former prosecutors: Marilyn Jackeline Hernández, Gabriel José Sánchez, Michael Gabriel Quinter Wilmer Agustín Vargas Silva, Ángel Dorta Sivira, for the alleged commission of the crimes of obstruction to the administration of justice, advantages or economic benefits of public officials or public officials, delay or intentional omission of aggravated functions, improper use of information or reserved data and association to commit crimes.
It should be noted that during the management of prosecutor SAAB, the Public Ministry has sent 556 officials to trial for being involved in corruption crimes.
