Santiago.– The former president of the Chamber of Deputies and former mayor of Santiago de los Caballeros Abel Martínez He stressed that not only institutions, but also their headlines, must promote and support audits as a guarantee of trust for citizens.
Through a press release, Martínez informed that he sent a communication to the Plenary of the Chamber of Accounts, in which he confirmed that he had received the final report of the audit carried out by that inspection body to his first period as mayor (2016-2020) and valued the technical work of the auditors, ensuring that the observations, many of which corresponded to the management prior to him, were welcomed in their entirety timely, since he assumed as mayor.
In the letter, Abel Martínez asked the Plenary of the Chamber of Accounts to include his second period (2020-2024) in the audits schedule. In response, the institution confirmed that the evaluation of those years is being considered, which guarantees the continuity of the process.
“We have always given my face. I was audited as president of the Chamber of Deputies for six years and before completing our second period as mayor, in addition to having been audited by the Comptroller General of the Republic, through public bid He pointed out.
“We are proud to have turned Santiago into the pride of all Dominicans, with visible works, modern processes and a transparent handling of each weight of the people,” Martínez said.
Finally, Abel Martínez called for transparency to become the seal of all public efforts, stating that the people want open institutions, constant audits and accountability. In his opinion that must be the commitment of those who have occupied or occupy public functions today.
“The headlines of the different institutions must open the doors to the Chamber of Accounts so that it is continuing to carry out and publish its audits, because thus the transparency and the management of the resources of the State are strengthened, without forgetting that each penny comes from the effort of each Dominican. Only only we strengthen democracy and return confidence to the citizens,” he concluded.
