Mao, Valverde. – A man is accused of devising a macabre plan to get rid of his debts: He declared dead, with false information, who had lent money. Thus, supposedly, it operated Máximo Mendozawho now faces positions for falsification of public documents and fraudulent use of health systems and civil registration.

According to the Public Ministry file, Mendoza offered loans to people with limited resources, especially beneficiaries of state social assistance programs, who received RD $ 2,100 per month. In return, he demanded that his cards be given as a guarantee.
When the borrowers could not return the money, Mendoza went to Primary Care Units (UNAP) in Mao and Hopewhere he pretended to be a relative, cousin, uncle or husband to register his supposed death. Then processed the death certificate before the CIVIL STATE OFFICE of the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
The authorities have confirmed Six victimsof which five were officially declared dead in public health and the JCE. The sixth was only registered in the Ministry of Health. The events occurred between December 2024 and June 2025.
The Public Ministry requested A year of pretrial detention and that the case is declared of complex processingdue to the severity of the crime, the multiplicity of victims and the repeated use of false documentation.
Máximo Mendoza was arrested during a raid in his home in Mao, where key tests were collected. He is also accused of simulating scenes of emotional pain to deceive medical staff and facilitate fraudulent records.
