Two national passenger trains were stoned this Sunday in Holguín and Las Tunas, without causing injuries, vandalism that have also recently taken place against the buses in Havana.
Train No. 15, which covered the Havana-Holguín route, was attacked with stones at 5:20 pm while approaching the tunas.
Later, at 9:20 pm, train No. 12, from Santiago de Cuba to Havana, received an impact on car 8436, specifically in seats 15 and 16, between Cristino Naranjo and Fuente, Holguín, according to reported The Railroad Union of Cuba on its page of Facebook.
Although the stones entered through the windows, there were no significant damage to the wagons or lesions to passengers, including children and the elderly, says publication of the company.
The Cuba Railways Union condemned these vandalism acts, highlighting that “they put at risk the life of Cubans” and affect the rail service.
The authorities did not detail whether they identified themselves or if specific measures will be taken to prevent future incidents, but these attacks underline the security challenges in public transport.
