They ask to quote Chancellor from Foreign Relations Commission

The postponement in the regulation of Law No. 32301, which seeks to increase transparency and control over the funds that NGOs receive in Peru, has generated concern. That is why Congressman José Cueto has announced that she has asked the president of the Foreign Relations Commission that cites Chancellor To address this issue, since the legal deadline for its regulations expired on July 14.

The parliamentarian expressed his frustration with the delay, pointing out that, despite his insistence and having talked twice with the Chancellor, a clear date for the promulgation of the norm has not been established.

“I keep pressing, but I also know that many NGOs are doing it by their side. I have already asked the president of the commission to quote it on that issue,” said the legislator.

The law was approved in March with the purpose of strengthening the capacities of the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI) to supervise cooperation funds more rigorously. This seeks to ensure that resources are allocated to development projects and not to finance political or ideological agendas undercover. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 85% of the NGOs received by these funds have not registered their activities before the APCI, although the law forces them to do so.

Actions taken

On August 29, the popular renewal bench issued a statement to warn about this postponement.

“It reflects an omission in the task of strengthening the supervision of organizations that receive abroad resources,” said Yarrow Norma.
