The voting of the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO) project to 2026 will be resumed by the Joint National Congress Budget Commission on Tuesday (9). THE Analysis started last weekbut the rapporteur of the article, Deputy Gervásio Maia (PSB-PB), asked more time to complete the final report because of the large number of amendments presented by parliamentarians. According to him, 2,465 amendments were recorded to the LDO project.
After approved by the commission, the proposal must still undergo a vote in a joint session of the National Congress, which is not yet scheduled.
The LDO establishes the guidelines for the preparation of the budget and sets limits to the budgets of the Legislature, Judiciary and Public Prosecution Service, as well as providing spending on personnel and fiscal policy.
At the end of August, the government sent to the National Congress the 2026 budget project, with changes in relation to estimates of economic growth compared to the LDO parameters, which has been processed since April.
The projection of increased gross domestic product (GDP) in 2026 was reduced from 2.5%in LDO, to 2.44% in the Budget Bill (Ploa).
