The Ministry of Public health reported this Tuesday that the country has 974 active cases from COVID-19the lowest figure recorded since March 2020.
This is the first time in two years that fewer than 1,000 cases of the disease have been recorded in one day.
According to the epidemiological bulletin of this Tuesday, 17 provinces register less than 10 active cases and two do not have infected people.
Among those provinces are María Trinidad Sánchez with 10 active casesDuarte, Mirabal Sisters and Monsignor Nouel with seven, Bahoruco, Independencia, Montecristi, Samaná and San Juan, with six.
While in Peravia five cases were registered in Monte Plata and Hato Mayor four were reported. Meanwhile, in San José de Ocoa they notified three, in Azua 2, in Pedernales and Sánchez Ramírez one each demarcation.
Elías Piña and El Seibo are the two provinces that do not register cases of COVID-19. The bulletin registers another six active cases in the “Unspecified” segment.
Highest number of cases
On the other hand, Greater Santo Domingo is the demarcation that reports the largest number of active casesadding 529 people with the virus, that is, 54% of the positives.
Of the 529 people who are still positive for the virus, 374 are located in the National District and 182 in Santo Domingo.
In Santiago, 79 were reported. active casesin La Altagracia 75, in Barahona 45, in Puerto Plata 29, in La Romana 27, and in La Vega 21.
Meanwhile, in Valverde 19 people with the disease were reported, in Dajabón and in San Pedro de Macorís 14, respectively; in the Espaillat province 13 and in San Cristóbal and Santiago Rodríguez 11.
This Tuesday the authorities reported 126 new cases of COVID-19 and no deaths from the disease.
While 127 people are hospitalized for the virus, 30 are in intensive care, and 25 of them on ventilators.
