Dagran made a technical visit after flooding in Tarazá that affected 100 families

Floods were presented by sedimentation processes of mining activities that did not allow the passage of rainwater.

The municipality of Tazará, in the Bajo Antioquia Cauca, was affected in recent days following the heavy rains that generated floods in three sectors of the territory.

According to the information presented by the authorities, 112 families from the San Martín sectors, new millennium and Eduardo Correa were affected because their homes were flooded and lost some belongings such as mattresses and appliances.

Following this emergency, Dagran made a technical visit to the municipality where it concluded that, The floods of recent days were presented by sedimentation processes from mining activities, What subtracts hydraulic capacity to several pipes.

In this visit, the Risk Management authorities also determined the actions that will mitigate the risk of new floods in Tarazá.

From Dagran they assured that, at the time, The municipality does not present new floods. However, in the face of what will be the rainy season, they recommended actions to the community to avoid new emergencies. The affected families were attended by the Municipal Mayor’s Office and the Government of Antioquia.

It should also be noted that, again, the municipality of the Bagre, located in the same subregion, dawned this Sunday with 15 flooded neighborhoods due to the increase in the flow of the Nechí and Tiguí rivers.

It is worth mentioning that, 15 days ago, the overflow of these two rivers affected 1000 familieswhich were attended by the Government of Antioquia, the department also initiated the mitigation works on the two tributaries to reduce this risk.

According to the Dagran, it will begin the update of the studies and designs that will determine the works on the two rivers that mitigate flood risk in the municipality of Bajo Cauca Antioqueño.

The director of Dagran, Carlos Ríos Puerta said that September is the month of transition to the second rainy season of the year and added that, October will have an increase in rainfall in almost the entire department, especially in the Subregions Oriente and Valle de Aburrá.
