They aim to restore more than 200 ecological areas of the country

The federal government identified more than 200 strategic sites in different ecosystems in the country to perform long -term restorative processes around 2050.

From January to June 533 ecological restoration projects were executed with an investment of 100.25 million pesos, through the Program for the Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems and Priority Species.

The first government report indicates that the projects incorporate restoration actions in terrestrial and aquatic habitat, waste management, comprehensive fire management for ecosystems conservation, reforestation, protection of reefs, islands and estuaries, ecotechnics for wastewater treatment, in addition to protected natural areas.

Among others, 24 support were granted for the execution of forest restoration actions on an area of ​​893 hectares within six protected natural areas located in the Balsas basin, Pico de Tancítaro, Malinche, Sierra Tecuani, ZiCuirán-Infiernillo, Nevado de Toluca and Tehuacán-Cuicatlán.

For its part, the National Forestry Commission, through the project for reforestation and restoration of ecosystems, carried out in the period reforestation days to five thousand hectares, particularly from Oaxaca and Jalisco.

In addition, with the project of reforestation and integral restoration of microbasins areas affected by illegal felling and forest fires are restored.
