The senator of the Peravia province, Julito Fulcar Encarnación, his absolute defense position reaffirmed this Sunday Dunas de Baní, declaring that He has never requested or supported a reduction or affectation of the extension of this natural heritage.
Fulcar explained that his management has focused on seeking justice for Salinas families who, for decades, paying the Baní City Council for land that is municipal property, but are outside the protected area.

“What I have proposed is that these families are recognized as owners for the life of the lands they occupy, eliminating an unfair collection and granting them legal certainty,” The legislator expressed through a statement.
In relation to the dunes of the boilers, he said that there is no conflict between the historical settlements dating from 1750 and the protected natural resources, since there is a management plan that regulates coexistence.
The senator reported that his proposal was sent to both the City of Baní and the Senate of the Republic, through a resolution addressed to the Executive Power, with the objective of adopting concrete measures in favor of families.
“I reiterate with all firmness: my purpose is not to touch the dunes, but to defend them, as I have always done, and at the same time guarantee an acquired right to hundreds of humble families,” Fulcar said.
Rejection of environmentalists
The statement responds to the rejections of the Environmental Commission of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
