Two solar parks with nominal capacity to generate 21.8 megawatts (MW) were inaugurated in the last hours in Matanzas and Havana, which already add 30 centers of this type throughout the country. With this new photovoltaic station Cuba raised the total power installed in this type of technology to more than 630 MW nationwide, according to national media.
In the Yumurina city, where there were already two solar parks, it is currently working to increase the generation capacity for this concept with the construction of another similar installation in the vicinity of the capital city, as well as in other parks of lower power in de Cárdenas, Jovellanos and the headquarters itself, said a information of Cubadebate.
For its part, in the capital a photovoltaic park was inaugurated in El Rincón, town of the Boyeros municipality. According to Havana Tribunethe center is located half a kilometer from the Sanctuary of San Lázaro, “in a plain that was clear with tools machines, in which the connected solar panels were aligned to guarantee a power of 21.87 MW.”
Although steps have been taken to increase the impact of these facilities, their contribution is still discreet in the midst of the acute crisis through which it is going through the National Electrical System (SEN).
In the last dates the situation has been aggravated, with cuts in provinces that reach 20 consecutive hours. In addition, in Havana, where so far stable rotations had been made by blocks, planning has not been met.
This Saturday, the generation capacity deficit on the island reached 1809 MW in the maximum demand strip, while amounted to 1350 at noon. The effects for this Sunday will remain in a similar range: 1300 MW during the daytime and 1710 MW in the peak schedule.
ELECTRICAL GENERATION: Output of a unit in Felton will make the affectation approach the 2000 MW
In its usual daily report of the energy situation, the Electric Union said that thermal limitations amount to 335 MW, as they are out of the SEN for breakdowns and maintenance several units of generation of Nuevitas, Renté, Felton, Santa Cruz and Cienfuegos.
In addition, they do not work due to lack of fuel 34 distributed generation plants with a capacity of 148 MW. Likewise, 475 MW are not available for lubricant deficit.
