Vance defended his government’s actions in the fight against drug trafficking. The UN Human Rights Office said that any action of a State to face drug trafficking must respect international law
The United States vice president, JD Vance, defended the military deployment against drug cartels and the actions that must be done for eradication on Saturday, September 6.
“Killing cartels who poison our citizens is the greatest and best use of our armed forces,” said Vance in X.
Vance’s statement occurs days after the attack on a boat from Venezuela with alleged drugs in which 11 people were killed.
President Donald Trump, who gave the information about the attack, said that the people who carried the drug cargo were linked to the Aragua train, an organization qualified as “terrorist” by his government.
On the deployment of the US in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, the UN Human Rights Office said that any action of a State to face drug trafficking must respect international law.
“Regarding drug -related crimes, so that it is clear, people should not be killed to consume, traffic, sell or own drugs,” said UN human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani.
The United Nations Organization expressed concern about the increase in tension between Venezuela and the United States.
