Lula stated that September 7 symbolizes the conquest of Brazilian freedom and sovereignty.
“We are not and we will not be again of anyone. We are able to rule and take care of our land and our people, without interference from any foreign government,” he said.
In reference to attacks against democracy, Lula stated that “the role of some Brazilian politicians who encourage attacks on Brazil is inadmissible.”
“They were elected to work for the Brazilian people, but defend only their personal interests. They are traitors of the homeland. The story will not forgive them.”
The president stressed that the defense of sovereignty manifests himself in combating inequality, protecting workers’ achievements, creating opportunities for young people and supporting entrepreneurs and vulnerable people.
“If we are entitled to these public policies, it is because Brazil is a sovereign country and has made the decision to take care of the Brazilian people,” he said.
Lula also defended the maintenance of Pix as a free public system, and criticized the use of digital networks for disinformation, hatred speech and crimes such as sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
Among the government’s advances, the president cited the reduction of unemployment, the opening of more than 400 new markets for Brazilian exports in two years and eight months, the decrease in half of deforestation in the Amazon and the preparation of the UN Climate Conference (COP30), which will be held in Belém in November.
